Villacana - A Typical Week

This information is regularly updated by the owners to give you an inside track on what to see and where to go around Villacana. It contains some things which happen on particular days, like markets or social golf, and others such as restuarants which can be any evening, though at peak periods you should book in advance, preferably before you catch the plane! You should check availablitity of all items with our agents (Tessa), before you travel as some resturants and other amenities are not open in off peak periods.
Don't worry if you can't do all of it. Some people, like us, don't do much on holiday at all. However this will enable you to pick and choose some of the things we have liked very much in the years we have been coming to Villacana.

Saturday

Market in Puerto Banus - go early to avoid the rush. Look at the antique stalls at the town end and the nicer stalls at the top.

Have lunch in the house

When you want to spend a day around the pool, put your lounger out before breakfast to get your spot!

Fancy a special meal with your loved one. Try Bora Bora for good food, on the beach, under the stars, or Le Carnicero, over the road in Cancelada, though the service is terrible, or our favourite is again over the road at Casa Miguel - try the lamb shank - the best.

Sunday

Market in Estepona Port and stop for a drink in many of the marina bars

Have lunch at the Upper Deck, or the 90 Miles bar around the pool in Villacana

Take the rackets and balls and stroll up to the tennis court to teach the kids how to play or simply bang a ball around, though you may have to book through the office at the top of the drive. Afterwards have a quick shower and jump in the pool or jacuzzi near to the courts. For more keen players go to the Bel Air club, 5 minutes away, by car

Drive up the mountain road to Benahavis, a small spanish village with cobbled streets and lots of charm. We always end up at a resturant in a small square, good food and service in the open air.

Monday

Make sure that the first one up goes up to the shop and gets the croissants and bread for breakfast. make up some rolls with Spanish ham and cheese and relax by the pools

Have fun around the pool or at the beach

To and from Estepona, stop off at Laguna Beach and have a look around at the opulence of the place and the hideous drinks prices. If you want to people watch and have a day of luxury, you might like this.

Take a trip to Estepona port. If you have small children, let them play in the childrens playground with loads of other kids, supervised by staff, whilst you enjoy a drink in one of the bars around the port. Enjoy a variety of resturants and go to Le Cazedor, enormous portions so either share or just order a starter. Let the kids throw bread to the grey mullet in the harbour.

Tuesday

Fancy a break from the beach and pools, put the kids in the car and get down to Aquapark in Torremolinas, get there early and enjoy a day of thrilling water rides - it's not Disney but its very good just the same.

Fancy an Chinese, Thai, Indian or other, ask in the office, there are loads of resonably priced resturants within a few minutes drive, or take a walk along the beach for half a mile to 'Heaven'

Take your family to 'Funny Beach' a 30 minute drive towards the airport. Go karting is suitable for all ages, they have junior and 'proper karts' for adults. They also have a variety of other things to do. Look them up on the web www.funnybeach.com or call on 952 823 359

Again, take a trip across the road to Cancellada, try out Le Carnicero, bit touristy and more expensive than the others but good all the same, or if you are on the beach or round the pool, take a stroll out on the beach and turn left to Pepe's, a five minute walk, literally on the beach serving the staples of kids and adult Spanish food at good prices

Wednesday

If it's a dull day, then a good outing is to Selwo Adventure Park, you'll see many animals and birds in close to their normal habitat, and its close by.

By now you'll be wanting to see a genuine Tapas bar. Go into San Pedro and try La Bodega, sit on stools around a barrel and order everything from Octopus to sparrows - excellent, but go early to avoid the rush of locals around 1pm.

Have an afternoon game of Bingo, or Risk, at the house.

Puerto Banus

take a cab or drive in and park. Stroll down 'Millionaires Row' where all the large yachts are, people watch and make sure you keep an eye on your wife and your money as expensive fashion shops abound.

Thursday

Market in San Pedro. Get up early and arrive in san Pedro before 9:30, buy loads of Spanish stuff, bric a brak, good for kids and adults.

Golf

make sure you've signed up for the golf with Colin, a frindly social event at one of the many courses around Villacana

have a game of football at heaven, on the beach out side Villacana or on the 'green' when security isn't watching

Fancy another resturant with no driving? Go east along the beach for a ten minute walk to Pepe's, great for adults and children. Good value and friendly service.

Friday

Get up early and go to the gym. Five minutes should be enough to get all that alcohol, and unhealthy food out of the system

Have lunch or dinner at Osaka's and see the Teppanyaki chefs do their stuff

If the wind is up, you can go to the beach and swim against the waves or stroll up the beach east to the beach club (20 minute walk or five minute drive) to hire a Hobie Cat for an hour.

Fed up of going out - stay in and have a BBQ and go to one of the bars on site for a drink and overlook the children playing

or go to Gregorio's on site for some good value food and good service
